there was a water tank in a village that was in charge of supplying the villagers with water. whether it was for drinking, for bathing or for anything else, the tank was the source for their needs. [

when the tank was dirty, the villagers would clean it. when the tank had a leak, the repair of the tank would be the villagers' first priority. as a result of all these actions, the tank felt appreciated for what he was doing for the villagers and it collected as much rain as it could so that he could provide the villagers with as much water as he could, even if the weather was bad. his worries were unfounded though, for rain would fall each time the water level in the tank seemed to be running low. the villagers were happy too, for the tank seemed to be able to supply them with water no matter when.
over time, people began to take the tank for granted. yes there was the occasional cleaning or mantainance, but it was not like before. "why do so much work when the tank would still serve its duty?" the people thought. And as the tank fell greater and greater into disrepair, his motivation to collect water for the villagers fell.
holes began appearing in the tank, rust began to contaminate the water. the amount of water collected was no longer enough to sustain the village even when times were good. the people began to ridicule the tank, saying that it was useless. that really broke the tank's heart.
the tank wished he could supply the villagers with an unending supply, he wished so much he was bottomless so that he could give the villagers all he had all the time. as much as he wanted, he knew he had a limit, and only proper care and concern could motivate him to become closer to becoming a bottomless tank capable of supplying the villagers with an unending supply of water.
i'm trying to be that tank that is able to give all the time.
